Speech Pathologist - Sandra Creger

Ms. Sandra was born in New Jersey to fabulous parents, both naturalized American citizens originally from Holland, before moving at six weeks of age to live in Pakistan, Thailand, and Singapore before returning to the United States to start college in California. As a child growing up overseas, she learned Urdu, Thai, Malay, and Spanish while in school, and was fairly fluent in Mandarin which obviously would shock the local Singaporeans when she would go shopping or have other interactions with them.  At this time, she remains fluent in Dutch (her maiden name was Vandersteenhoven) but is limited in the other languages due to the severe lack of practice!!  Ms. Sandra loved her experiences of living overseas and is delighted to share the stories, including one of getting leaches on her while on a school camping trip to the Pahang Jungle safari in Malaysia!  She graduated a half year early from high school in Singapore and went to Holland to stay with family for six months to help with the experience of being so far away from home for the first time. While living in Paterswolde, she would bicycle to the University of Groningen to attend language classes.  Upon arriving in the United States, Ms. Sandra attended the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, CA for two years and then transferred to the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA where she received her B.A. and M.A. in Communicative Disorders. She met the absolute love of her life, Phil, at the age of 19 when beginning her junior year of college at U.O.P. They were married three years later immediately after she received her master’s degree and have been very happily married ever since!!  She and Phil moved to Mt. Pleasant soon after that and have three wonderful, smart and successful children, Christopher, Stephanie, and Alexander. Ms. Sandra has been in private practice providing services for more than 25 years in the Mt. Pleasant community to several local private schools as well as to students in her home office after school hours and during the summer. She is proud and feels blessed to have been E.C.M.C.S.’ speech pathologist since 2005.  She has wanted to be a speech pathologist since she was 13 years old and continues to love what she does.  Since Ms. Sandra and her husband have recently become “empty nesters”, she enjoys traveling to see her children, reading, yard work, and numerous types of crafts during her spare time.
